Deborah Lindquist Reintroduces Handcrafted Aromatherapy Eye Pillows for Rest, Ritual and Dreaming

The award-winning sustainable designer brings a longtime wellness creation back into focus with botanical Relaxation and Dream Blends in hemp/silk and one-of-a-kind upcycled sari fabrics.

LOS ANGELES, CA — Long before wellness became a lifestyle category, award-winning eco-conscious designer Deborah Lindquist was creating aromatherapy eye pillows for her own yoga practice and students.

Originally developed in the late 1990s while Lindquist was studying to become a yoga teacher, the pillows were filled with lavender, chamomile and flaxseed and used during Savasana, meditation and bedtime to encourage rest and relaxation.

The idea later evolved following Lindquist’s participation in a traditional Native American dream quest ceremony, where she was introduced to fresh mugwort and its traditional association with dreaming anddream recall. She began adding hand-harvested, sun-dried mugwort to her original botanical blend, creating what became her Dream Pillow.

Today, the eye pillows are offered in two botanical variations:

Relaxation Blend — lavender, chamomile and flaxseed for meditation, Savasana, travel, bedtime andmoments of rest.

Dream Blend — lavender, chamomile, flaxseed and hand-harvested, sun-dried mugwort, inspired by Lindquist’s longstanding exploration of dreams, ritual and the unconscious.

Each eye pillow is handcrafted in Los Angeles and available in luxurious hemp/silk satin or one-of-a-kind upcycled Indian sari fabrics, extending Lindquist’s decades-long commitment to beautiful materials, thoughtful craftsmanship and regenerative design. Removable zippered covers allow for easy laundering, and botanical ingredients are organic or wild harvested.

“Sometimes we create the medicine we will need long before we know we will need it,” says Lindquist, who recently rediscovered the pillows within her own wellness practice after years of making them for others.

The renewed collection reflects a larger idea at the heart of Lindquist's work: that beauty, sustainability and well-being need not exist separately. A simple object made for rest can also carry memory, craftsmanship, plant wisdom, and the possibilty of ritual.
