Bio

Deborah Lindquist is a visionary designer, writer, and pioneer in eco-conscious fashion. Known as the “Green Queen,” she has spent over four decades crafting exquisite apparel, accessories, and home décor that unite style, sustainability, and soul.
Originally trained at Parsons School of Design in New York, Deborah launched her namesake brand in 1983 with a collection of unique Milanese mesh belts and jewelry. After relocating to Los Angeles, she began working with vintage fabrics to create one-of-a-kind jackets, bustiers, and vests—quickly gaining a cult following among fashion-forward boutiques and celebrities alike.
Today, Deborah’s work combines cutting-edge design with a deep commitment to the environment. She is best known for her reincarnated appliquéd cashmere cardigans, denim, slipdresses, red carpet designs, and parachute skirts—all made from deadstock, recycled, sustainable, or organic materials. Each piece tells a story, inviting the wearer into a slower, more intentional relationship with clothing.
Expanding on her legacy of sustainable luxury, Deborah created Green Queen, a vegan fashion and lifestyle brand offering essentials crafted from hemp, modal, and organic cotton. The Green Queen line includes Green Queen Basics and Green Queen Body—collections designed to bring mindful comfort, minimal design, and conscious living into everyday wear.
Her designs have been worn by Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Pink, Christina Aguilera, and Paula Abdul, and featured in Elle, WWD, InStyle, LA Times, Rock & Roll Bride, and more.
Beyond the studio, Deborah is an emerging speaker and storyteller. She shares the deeper purpose behind her work—exploring themes of material memory, creative reclamation, and transformation—through writing and public speaking.
Her Substack publication, Deborah Lindquist-Vanatta, offers behind-the-scenes stories, reflections on sustainability, and poetic insights into the creative process.
She is also the creator of Creating Eco-Conscious Fashion. an educational series designed to guide the next generation of designers in building sustainable practices from the ground up.
