Yin/Yang: A Year of Holding Opposites
The Balance of Opposites
The principle of Yin and Yang in Chinese philosophy teaches that all things exist as inseparable and contradictory opposites. Their relationship becomes especially obvious when something feels off in our bodies, or in our lives. For me, the past year has been a study in balance, imbalance, and in finding my way back to harmony.
Haunted House and a Lesson in Energy
My first experience with Chinese medicine and the concept of yin and yang came through Feng Shui. Years ago, I lived in a haunted house in Topanga, next to a woman who was obsessed with my husband and me. Not in a good way. I made energetic changes to our home using Feng Shui as a guide—and she suddenly sold her two houses, moved to another city, and began terrorizing people there instead.
“There is something to this energy work,” I thought.
