One of the most iconic pinup looks I've designed was worn by Christina Aguilera during a live performance with the Pussycat Dolls at The Roxy in Los Angeles, 2002. The piece — a custom corset studded in rhinestones layered over a silver sailor collared bralette — embodied classic burlesque styling with a modern, sustainable edge.
The look gained additional visibility in Christina’s “13 Men” music video, where the bold silhouette and vintage glamour aligned perfectly with the song’s sultry tone.
The piece has recently re-emerged in the spotlight after fetching a final bid of $8,565 at Gotta Have Rock and Roll’s auction — well above its starting bid, and a testament to both its cultural resonance and couture craftsmanship.

The look was clearly worn and loved: visible wear, makeup, and stage staining only add to its provenance. A certificate of authenticity accompanied the sale, along with stage photos of Christina performing in the design. Bidding ended on 12/08/2012.

“Christina and I brainstormed on the concept together in a design meeting & she liked my design idea.
It's burlesque so there had to be some aspect of stripping-specifically stripping down to more clothing. That's where the little sailor bralette bustier came in.
I made the costume by hand in my atelier, and dressed Christina backstage that night. We had a blast, and on stage her performance of course was flawless. Shes a pro. The wear you see in the costume? That’s real, that’s lived-in glamour.” — Deborah Lindquist
