Cannes Elegance: Vintage Sari Glamour at the Palais
A magical red carpet flashback from the 2013 Cannes Film Festival: Erin Salt in a vintage sari mermaid gown and Larissa Gleissner in a custom ballgown celebrating the premiere of Barefoot in the Kitchen.

Erin Salt ascends the famed Palais des Festivals staircase in a one-of-a-kind mermaid gown crafted from vintage sari fabric. Beside her is filmmaker Larissa Gleissner, wearing a custom ballgown from our atelier. Gleissner’s powerful documentary Barefoot in the Kitchen was featured at the festival that year.

The Cannes Film Festival is the ultimate stage for cinematic celebration and sartorial expression. For the 2013 festival, I created two bespoke gowns that reflected both sustainability and glamour. The mermaid gown worn by Erin Salt was made using vintage sari fabric, tailored to sculpt and shimmer with each step. The Godmother ballgown worn by Larissa Gleissner, filmmaker behind the documentary Barefoot in the Kitchen, echoed classic Hollywood drama with a contemporary, eco-luxury edge.
Every detail—from the recycled textiles to the couture construction—embodied the ethos of conscious red carpet fashion.
